CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH

Support Science and Technology with the development, validation and standardization of biological test methods for the toxicological assessment of pollutants in aquatic ecosystems; Assessment of risks to Canadians and their environment posed by pollutants or other harmful or dangerous substances

• Developing new sublethal biological test methods looking at amphibian reproduction, sea urchin solid-phase fertilization, and fathead minnow reproduction
• The application of toxicity test methods in the CCME Canada-wide Strategy for the Management of Municipal Wastewater Effluent
• The use of sublethal toxicity tests in the Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) programs for the Mining and Pulp and Paper Sectors
• The use of existing standardized toxicity test methods and the possible future development of new tests to adequately assess nanomaterials
• Statistical software development for analyzing ecotoxicity test data
