Ross researches the evaluation and application of acoustic velocity and other non-destructive technology to characterize variation in fibre quality in standing and harvested trees in relation to silvicultural practice, ecological influences and species differences.
He has also done extensive research on regeneration growth problems on coastal montane sites in relation to nutrient dynamics, competing vegetation and silvicultural practices.
