Adventures in Invention digs into the vaults, labs, museums and closets of diverse fields, professions and businesses to bring developments in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to life, building a deeper knowledge of what “innovate” and why it is essential. By partnering with New Brunswick professionals across multiple fields and industries, Science East’s Adventure in Invention will explore what innovation means in meaningful, memorable and hands-on ways for the community.

Children will have the chance to learn and explore through a variety of activity stations. FrederictonWorlds UNBound All-Girls Science Odyssey Adventure DayUNBThis event will take place on Saturday, May 14th, 2016!Worlds UNBound, UNBWorlds UNBound will be conducting an "All-Girls Science Odyssey Adventure Day" filled with interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities on the University of New Brunswick campus. We will be inviting all participants in our Spring Quest 4 Girls clubs to join us in celebrating the continued success of our well-renowned Quest 4 Girls Elementary STEM Clubs as well as our accomplishment in initiating five new Quest 4 Girls Middle School STEM Clubs. These programs are now offered in a total of twelve local schools.
MiramichiSTEMfest 2016Miramichi Valley High School (345 McKenna Ave. Miramichi NB E1V 3S9)May 14Anglophone School District - NorthA free, exciting, all-day forum, that equally engages children, parents, and teachers, coupled with corporate, government, academia and non-profit executives alike, from STEM fields in Northern New Brunswick. This year's STEMfest will help children discover new and exciting STEM activities. Elementary, middle and high school students will work with the team from Brilliant Labs through a wide range of fun and interactive robotics activities that incorporate everything from 3D printing to green screen video. Teachers will have the opportunity to choose between hands-on STEM session that allow them to interact with new "technologies" or to receive training with Microsoft and SMART Tech. Parents will have the chance to ask STEM education leaders questions about their child's learning and to interact with STEM that students have in their classrooms to better support their learning.
St. AndrewsMarine Biology Field Program at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre1 Lower Campus Rd., St. Andrews New BrunswickMay 6th and May 7thHuntsman Marine Science CentreParticipants will assist with the collection of baseline data while out on the Huntsman research boat 'Fundy Spray', observe the unique behaviour of live echinoderms, examine plankton under the microscope, visit the Fundy Discovery Aquarium and take part in a new Huntsman initiative related to marine debris and microplastics. For this Science Odyssey even the Huntsman will host 50 students from the surrounding schools in grades 9-12. The format will follow a typical Huntsman field program introductory day: -Marine debris presentation, data collection field trip to local shore, microplastics lab experiment -Echinoderm behaviour experiment - strength of tube feet, or right side up -Aquarium visit timed around animal feedings - Harbour Seals, Atlantic salmon -Exploration of the local St. Croix estuary aboard the Huntsman research vessel Fundy Spray; collect plankton, subtidal invertebrates and oceanographic data, -Plankton Lab, a chance to use the compound microscopes and look at life in a drop of seawater -Receive Huntsman Science Odyssey completion certificate

The event is a colourful, fun-filled, interactive learning playground that the community collaborates to set up for one amazing day. When the doors of Harbour Station open, children of all ages are welcomed in, and encouraged to explore, experiment and create while they learn from the vast array of hands-on exhibits, workshops and demonstrations, including science, engineering, arts, sport and physical activities and lots more.
