The following series of 8 one-minute vignettes were developed by Global TV in Calgary to help raise awareness of International Polar Year science and research. The series covers topics from research on severe Arctic weather and ocean currents to the health of Inuit and involvement of Northerners in IPY research projects. The vignettes were aired across Canada on Global TV and TVA from May to August 2009 and again October, 2009 to January, 2010. This Global TV project was funded in part by the Government of Canada Program for IPY through the Training, Communications and Outreach Call for Proposals issued in 2007. The purpose of the Call was to solicit creative and innovative projects from organizations across Canada to promote IPY and Arctic science, as well as foster a greater understanding of the Canadian Arctic and its peoples.
