CSSP introduces match-making board to connect prospective partners

June 18, 2024

The Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) acts as a bridge between the safety and security needs of all levels of government, with science and technology solutions developed in partnership with industry and academia. That’s why the CSSP has launched a message board to connect prospective partners during its 2024 call for proposals.

“We heard feedback in the past from prospective partners in industry, academia and government, that they had a great idea, but they needed help to make connections to form a project team,” explains Christine Scales, who is the acting chief scientist responsible for safety and security at Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC). “We wanted to make it easier for prospective partners to form a better project team.”

Defence Research and Development Canada’s Centre for Security Science is helping prospective partners connect on Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) projects.

The message board is available on GCcollab, a professional networking and collaborative workspace which will allow prospective partners to connect and share information on each of the science and technology challenges.

“If we can enable better project proposals and better project teams, we will get better projects to improve the safety and security of Canadians,” Scales says.

One of the unique elements of the CSSP is that projects must have a lead government organization, which can be federal, provincial, territorial, municipal, or Indigenous.

For the 2024 CSSP call for proposals, prospective partners can apply through the Canada Buys website.
