Over the last few years, the TGMS team has consulted the research community and agency staff to identify their needs, common tasks, and pain points in our current grants management systems. This information gathered will form the basis for the implementation of TGMS.
TGMS will replace existing grants management systems for the agencies, including the Canadian Common CV (CCV), as outlined by the granting council Presidents.
Release plan
TGMS will be implemented in phases, starting with a small subset of the agencies’ simplest funding opportunities. This will give the research community a chance to familiarize themselves with the new system before more complex funding opportunities are introduced. Over time, additional functionality will be added to the solution to support more complex funding opportunities.
The agencies will provide plenty of notice before funding opportunities are onboarded to TGMS. During the transition, which system will host each funding opportunity (TGMS or legacy systems) will be clearly indicated. This transition will be accompanied by user training and dedicated technical support to ensure a smooth onboarding process. This will include learning resources including videos and demonstrations as well as live instructor-led sessions.
The agencies continue to rely on members of the research community to contribute their knowledge and feedback to ensure TGMS reflects their needs and improves the user experience.
