We are recruiting 15 ambitious and motivated young individuals from across Canada to join the second cohort of the Chief Science Advisor’s Youth Council (CSA-YC).

The Office of the Chief Science Advisor is seeking candidates for the second cohort of the Chief Science Advisor’s Youth Council (CSA-YC). Individuals interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and their societal dimensions are encouraged to apply. A degree in STEM disciplines is not required.
Eligibility
- Individuals between the ages of 18-28 by application deadline (November 4th 2022 11:59PM PDT)
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
What to expect
- The mandate of the Youth Council includes:
- Providing accurate and balanced views to the Chief Science Advisor of Canada (CSA) from the perspective of youth
- Bringing to the attention of the CSA and the Office of the CSA questions and issues related to the various groups that council members represent
- Informing the CSA on key issues and challenges facing the Canadian science community
- Advising on and taking part in outreach activities of the Office of the Chief Science Advisor
- CSA-YC members are appointed for a mandate of two years.
- Regular meetings will take place virtually. An in-person retreat will take place in Ottawa once a year.
- The expected regular time commitment for council work should not exceed a total of 15 hours a month.
- Bilingual conversations will regularly take place, participants would benefit understanding both official languages.
